Sad Tails At Keystone
If you have had an experience with
Keystone Kennel, or you know of
someone that has, please send me
your story, documentation, Email,
and photos for me to add to the site.

I believe that places like Keystone
Kennel should not be allowed to
operate.

Animals, and the people that truly
love them should not be made to
suffer.
Submitted below are the detailed accounts sent in from people that purchased
puppies from Keystone Kennel.

Dagan’s Sad Story...

On Monday, August 21st, I took a ride to meet with Beverly Dinkins.  She is an incredibly compassionate person.
Beverly was a delight to visit with.  She has lived in Georgia for most of her life and she is a retired school teacher.  I am
sure that all of her students remember her fondly.  I can easily say this because after meeting Beverly, I felt honored to
spend a few precious hours with her. Here is what Beverly had to say after buying puppies from Keystone Kennel.

On Tuesday, June 28th 2005, I went to Keystone Kennel with my daughter to purchase two Miniature Dachshunds.  The
very next day I took the puppies to her vet to be examined.

Bubba is a Miniature Black/Tan that was diagnosed with Coccidia and Sarcoptic Mange and was flea infested. Bubba
was born April 21st  2005. He is now 1 year 4 months old, so far, he's doing well.
However, he does continue to have skin issues and is very hyper.

The second puppy, named Bahkah, was also examined. He was a Miniature smooth red, born on March 31st 2005.
When examined by the vet, he was diagnosed with genetic defect called Bilateral Entropion [defined as inversion of the
eyelid margin. Most affected dogs have eye irritation; frequently, corneal scratches result.] Most dogs with Bilateral
Entropion require surgical correction. The mode of inheritance is unknown.. Sweet Bahkah was also flea infested.

It was advised that I return the puppy to Keystone Kennel immediately in exchange for another puppy.  Reluctantly, on
June 30th 2005, I exchanged Bahkah for Dagan. Dagan was born April 25th 2005. He was a Miniature smooth red.
Early Saturday, July 2nd 2005, I took little Dagan to the vet. He had been vomiting the night before and had diarrhea.  He
was diagnosed with Coccidia.

Dagan’s condition worsened and on Sunday July 3rd, he was taken to the Emergency Veterinary Hospital where he
was further diagnosed with Giardia and Parvo! The puppy remained hospitalized for treatments while I tried to contact
Patti McCarty by phone, email and a registered letter regarding Dagan’s condition. Keystone Kennel could not be
reached. Every attempt was made to save Dagan’s life but sadly, on Wednesday, July 6th 2005, he died at 7:55 p.m.

On Thursday, July 7th 2005, Patti McCarty responded to my email simply stating that she was going to call me
immediately.  No call ever arrived.

On Monday, July 11th 2005, I sent a letter to Keystone Kennel via Priority Mail demanding full reimbursement of the
purchase fee, plus all vet bills.

On Saturday, August 6th 2005, I filed suit against Keystone Kennel.
Dagan was born April 25th 2006
Dagan passed away on July 6th 2006

About a month ago, my friend's son was learning all about poetry in English
class.

He had to write a dramatic ballad; it had to have 2 refrains and had to be about
a serious topic that was personal. He was at a complete loss, so his Mom
emailed the teacher and she gave them some examples of what some other
children were writing about (getting lost and a hospital stay). They both thought
long and hard and decided to write a ballad about their Dachshund, Bruno!

They got an email from the teacher letting them know that Zach's ballad made
her cry and she also said that she had no idea that this is what happens. I have
Zach's permission to share it here.

THE CAGES ARE FULL OF DOGS IN THE HEAT.

SHAME, SHAME.

THE BARN OWNER IS LAZY, GREEDY AND MEAN
NO CONSCIENCE, NO LOVE, IT DOES SEEM.
IF THE PUPS GET SICK, THEY DON'T CARE
NO MONEY GETS SPENT ON THE DOGS CARE.
SHAME, SHAME.

THE YARD STAYS EMPTY, NO ROMPING IS DONE
THE BARN IS ANGRY AT WHAT IT HAS DONE.
THE CUTE LITTLE FACES YOU SEE AT PET STORES
WERE MADE BY EVIL HUMAN BEINGS, THAT'S FOR SURE.
